I Love Your Smile!

The Dorothy DaysHappy Friday Friends!  Yes...I am so glad that the weekend is coming up.  This will be a busy weekend and I like that my husband is here to help around the house, make dinner and keep the kids company.  I just don't like when he does the laundry because sometimes we end up with bleach blots on our favorite clothing.  The weekend is also a needed break for the kids who spend a lot of time on homework after school.  I should tell my family "I Love Your Smile!" more often.

This week The Dorothy Days included me in her BNS Treasury.  This is my first time participating in a BNS (Buy and Stay) and I don't think I ever would have tried it if I wasn't given this free opportunity.  I am glad to have been included in this promo because now I know that's it not really that complicated and it's a great way to discover great goodies.  I'd love to do this again. For an explanation of what the fun is all about, The Dorothy Days explains it here Etsy Jargon- What is a BNR, what is a BNS?!

Although I haven't been blogging regularly, I am encouraged to put a few words on here each week because of you.  Thank you so much!

  • I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  I appreciate your visit today =)

    Oh! My Aching...?

I don't have any aches to complain about!   ?!
Usually it is the headaches or the neck pain or something else but today I'm fine.
I'm not certain if it's the chiropractic care that I have been receiving for the past 2 weeks (I hope it is because it's costing and arm and a leg and a big toe too!) but I'm feeling ache free.  WhoopDiDoo!

My husband, so tired of my "alleged" grumpiness, made me see a chiropractor.  Now I really did not want to go anywhere that meant taking away beading time while adding on commute time but I agreed to give this a shot.  If I go the entire month without a headache, I'll be ready to claim that chiropractic care works for me.  But me...grumpy?  Never!

    Beaded Leaves

Thank you Jamie at ChatterBlossom, for encouraging me to continue my bookmarks and suggesting leaf designs.  I'm enjoying beading up various kinds of leaves such as the fern leaf and Russian style leaf, above.

    Sporty Charms

My intention was to bead volleyballs for my daughter's team but I managed only 1 before I got distracted by the soccer ball.  I like that I can make circular shapes with the angular beads.

    Thanks for stopping by!

    I Love Your Smile!

    Hi Friends,

    How are you doing?

I've had a busy week and found little time for beading but I did work on more Santa Charrms that are on reserve for a nice customer.  I'm also working on a raccoon that is not quite finished so I'll show it to you on my next post.

Because it's Friday (hooray!) I wanted to make sure you know who my wonderful blogging buddies are...

    Imagine That!

It's been about 2 1/2 years since I first opened my Etsy shop...Imagine That!  I'm still doing it and having fun.

One thing that has kept me motivated is that people like my bead work enough to buy it.  I try to keep my prices low => I am rewarded by sales => gives me enough money to go out and buy more supplies => allows me to do what I love => improve my beading skills => HAPPY!  I know this is a touchy subject for the professionals on Etsy but yes, I am a hobbyist.

Certainly one day I'd love to make enough money selling my charms and accessories so I can send my kids to college on the money I earn.  I'd love to have a professional reputation.  I'd love to be on the Etsy front page as a featured shop.  I'm working towards that...slowly.

I am a little fish in a big pond but I still make every beaded piece with lots of Imagination, Love and Care. I hope you like what you see.

    I Love Your Smile!

Can you read Polish?  I can't but it's a good thing that Google comes with a translation tool because I discovered a wonderful blog in a language from far away.  The author, Sol, makes intricate beaded pieces and I am flattered that she used my Kitty Paw pattern to make her own colorful version of this design.  Please take a look at her blog post when you can.

I also want to mention and thank these kind Etsy merchants for including my beaded pieces in their Treasury List.

*Wildwood Beadworks curated a Treasury entitled, Butterflies and Blooms and featured my little-bitty Beaded Terrarium with Butterfly next to some amazing work!

*Jolly26 curated Pumpkins and my pumpkin charm was in there too.  It's very interesting to see the different versions of bead woven pumpkins side by side.

I also created a Treasury to pay homage to my teammates on Etsy's Interactive Blog Team.  Here it is...

What the World Would Look Like Without Cell Phone Straps

A world without cell phone straps would mean a lot of finger pointing and babies crying.  Now who would want that?  Not me! is a good thing I beaded up some cell phone straps.

    Sparkling Blue

    Shimmering Heart
These phone straps would go well with the charms in my shop.  Check out these cuddly Koalas.  If you don't have a "puka" (hole) on your phone for adding these phone straps, you can attach these charms to your bag or backpack.

Have a happy day and thanks for stopping by!

    Exploiting My Teddy Bear

Like many children, when I was little, I had a favorite Teddy Bear that would keep me company whenever I wanted it's company.  I confess that my Teddy Bear may have been forgotten and neglected at times but this bear was my favorite toy.  Teddy Bear's name was My Yellow Teddy (MYT) but his color eventually faded to a light beige.  Teddy was pilled and ratty.  I exploited Teddy's cuddliness to the fullest extent.  One day, many weeks...months...years (?) later, I realized MYT was not around anymore and I was sad.  I don't know when My Yellow Teddy actually left me and no one else seemed to know either.  I probably left MYT outside and he went on an adventurous, exciting space journey (so I'd like to imagine).

I still think of My Yellow Teddy and with fond memories, I created this charm of him in his older, beige years, before he boarded his flight.

    Go (Insert Team Name Here)!

    Go Warriors!

I'm feeling sporty today!  Just came home from a volleyball win for my child's school and I'm a bit worked up because I get nervous whenever my daughter is on the court.  I'm sure glad we don't have football players in the family because I would be a huge bundle of nerves!

For all of you University of Hawaii football fans, here is a set of Beaded Football Earrings in Green and White to show your Warrior pride.  These colors can be customized to represent your home team.  Wear it on the sidelines and cheer Rah! Rah! Rah!

    Envelope Exchange II

Oh how exciting!  I received my second envelope from the Elevated Envelope Exchange that I participated in over the summer. Actually, it is not an envelope but a beautiful box decorated with a painting.  I love that the box was covered with clear cellophane wrap on which the stamp was affixed so now I can keep the box without the postmarks.  It's decorated to the theme of Take Up Your Spade by Sara Watkins.

Oooh...but inside the box, so color coordinated, pretty and tied up with ribbon was a delicate dried stem of flower, a sweet note, a blank card, and the words to Take Up Your Spade.

Thank you Jessica from CT.  I've never ever received mail as elegant and pretty as this! Coincidentally, I was outside working in the garden when I received this package =)

    Happiest Labor Day!

I celebrated Labor Day by sleeping in...ahhh!  Unfortunately, I woke up to a little chaos in the household.  You know...with a pre-teen, hungry pets and a husband who doesn't quite know the morning can get a little crazy.  Despite all of that, I love waking up at 9 am and wish I could dream a little longer every morning.  How is your day going?

Today I have a surprise for Jamie at Chatter Blossom.  Jamie's name was randomly chosen as the winner of this month's "I Love Your Smile!" drawing.  She gets to choose an item from my Etsy shop; I hope she finds something that she likes.  Please visit Jamie's Chatter Blossom blog and shop.  She has the most beautiful handcrafted accessories and such wonderful stories to tell about each piece that she makes.

Congratulations Jamie!  Thank you all for participating in my giveaway.

Pumpkin Charms made with Delica 11/0 beads
I carefully hand beaded each pumpkin charm with tiny 11/0 Delica beads using the bead weaving brick stitch method. The pumpkins are plump with a "healthy" orange glow - just like the pumpkins I like to pick from the pumpkin more...
